Why is Ann Coulter so mean?

I’ve always thought Ann Coulter was mean. That seems to be her modus operandi, and I think it’s a sad way to make a living. Here’s a YouTube video with even more proof, as she stoops to namecalling:

I don’t understand meanness. If you don’t like something someone does, deal with the issues or actions at hand. Bullying just makes the bully look bad, and doesn’t help their credibility.

On the other hand, there are people in the audience that laugh with her. They’re just as culpable.
